The great thing about Deals That Matter is that they give 15% of the proceeds to Operation Family Fund. To learn more about them, go here.

Gelato in Riverton? You bet! Stephano's has done their homework and truly does produce gelato that will transport you to the Piazza San Marco. The lemon is tart with just the right amount of sweetness.

Do try the ACE (ah che). It's a wonderful combination of lemon, orange and carrots of all things but it works so perfectly well. It really is delicious. Stephano's makes fresh all the flavors you hope to find at a good gelateria, they also make so fun ones unique to them, like Birthday Cake. They even make a 'guiltless' chocolate that's made from non-fat milk. Still wonderful but w/far fewer calories.

Now here's another unique thing about Stephano's, fresh, homemade, imported fudge! Imported from Idaho, so it is still fresh. Why Idaho? Because Stephano wanted to serve the very best fudge he could find and he found it in Idaho with Twila's Homemade Fudge. Try it and you will thank him for the effort as it's well worth it.

18th Annual KUED Super Reader Marathon

KUED's 18th Annual Reading Marathon

KUED is once again inviting children pre-school through 6th grade to participate in the 18th Annual Reading Marathon from November 15 through December 6, 2010. The statewide challenge begins Monday, November 15 when public libraries and other community organizations host kick-off parties. At the parties, children will find the information they will need to participate. KUED hosts the annual marathon to encourage kids and their families to spend quality time reading. Participants may read alone, read to someone else or be read to by another person. Log your hours online or download the form and turn it into your local library. You can also pick up a form at your city or county library. (This is for Salt Lake County only). This is so fun. We have done this for the past few years, and my kids LOVE IT! They have tons of wonderful, fun and educational activiites. Lots of live entertainment. All of the characters (curious george, sid the science kid, etc in costume) for pictures. Free toys, and take home activites, and free lunch for the kids. They also give them a free book. And lots of other stuff I can't even remember. If you can, take advantage of this. The party will be in January.

For a list of places that are having the Kick-Off parties CLICK HERE and scroll down.

Experience the evolution of the game with today's Groupon for two tickets to see the Utah Jazz play at EnergySolutions Arena. Choose one of the following games:

For $32, you get two tickets to see the Jazz play the New Jersey Nets on November 17 at 7 p.m. (a $64 value).

Need to save a little more? How to save money on Bread!

Bread is something that rarely goes on sale, and unless you are willing to settle for the "store brand or cheap" kind then you are probably paying at least $2 a loaf. WELL...HERE IS SOMETHING TO TRY!
We were driving home from riteaid a couple of days ago and there is a Sara Lee Bakery Outlet on the way. It had a big sign that said "Bread $0.50" so I yelled for my husband to pull over and I ran in....he about fell out of the car when I can out carrying about 5 bag fulls (half I bought for my family)...but with it all said and done, I only spent $12 and change for 25 LOAVES OF BREAD!!! NONE of them were expired, and they were all the 100% whole wheat and other good kinds, and they were the 24 oz size!! They also had hotdog and hamburger buns for only $0.50 a package! Just something to think about. The best thing about Sara Lee bread, is you can freeze it and just take it out an hour before you need it, and it takes like it was just bought!!! We have tried this with other bread (aka Target) and it tastes horrible and its crumbly and a mess. Sara Lee bread does not do that. At least mine doesn't! :) So go to google and search for ' sara lee bakery outlet 84103 ' (or your zip code) and see if there is an outlet by you. I believe they are located all across the county. You can also try Hostess (they make wonder bread) to see if they have any good deals!

Need to save a little more? How to save money on Meat!

My friend tipped me off that the reams close to my house marks all their meat to at least 50% off on the "SELL BY" day. So if it says on the package "Sell by 10/21/10" and you were to go in on 10/21/10, the meat would be marked down to at least 50% off. I went in the other day and got all this meat for only $12.17 + tax which came to only about $12.50. The hamburger and chicken were about $1.30/lb (the meat was 85 % and the chicken was boneless chicken breast). And the steak and chili meat were only about $1.20/lb.

I bought the meat, and brought it home and packaged the large pack into smaller 1 lb packages with the ziplock freezer vacuum pump system.

This saved us about 60% on our meat for the next couple of weeks. Next time you are at your grocery store, ask the meat department when they markdown their meat. Some do it at night when they close up, others do it in the morning. Come back and let us know what kind of deals you get!
